One of the main problems with phobias is the fact that on the whole the reaction of your body is out of your control. The heart pounds, anxiety levels increase, blood pressure rises and the fear begins to hit home. However, over time you will learn to recognise the start of a potential phobia episode and relaxation techniques will “take the edge off” and hopefully stop your body reacting and moving to the next level.
There are many different ways to relax but the best is to control your breathing which ultimately reduces your anxiety, slows down your heart and breaks the vicious circle of anxiety, increased heart rate, increased anxiety, etc.
