Sometimes when suffering from anxiety issues it can feel as though the world is against you and you have no prospects for the future. However, that is certainly not the case and you would be surprised to learn how many employment opportunities there are for those suffering with anxiety. We will cover the type of jobs more suitable to anxiety sufferers in a separate post but some of the criteria you should look towards include: –
Low stress levels
Stress is one of the most challenging situations for an anxiety sufferer therefore a working environment with low levels of stress is a must.
Limited interaction
This is a tricky one because at the end of the day you do need to improve your interaction to help overcome and control your anxiety going forward. However, in the working environment those suffering from anxiety (especially social anxiety disorder) will work best in employment positions where there is limited interaction with others. Anxiety sufferers tend to work best on their own.
Few interruptions
For an anxiety suffer to get the best out of an employment situation there needs to be minimal interruptions and distractions. It is quite easy to stay focused on one issue at a time but when faced with constant interruptions and distractions this can increase stress levels and bring on anxiety.
Low noise levels
Noise, interruptions and distractions are three of the most challenging things for those suffering anxiety issues. The calmer the situation and less noise distraction the more anxiety sufferers are able to focus, concentrate and remain calm. Let’s face it, all of us would prefer to work in a low noise level working environment!
