Most of us will probably know what this is, gradually introducing yourself to your fear to help over come it. It’s supposed to be extremely effective but the thought of doing this with some of my phobias terrifies me and I just don’t think I could do it.
For example my food phobia-I just couldn’t imagine myself getting near to a certain food then tasting it etc, I’d be instantly sick if I got as far as putting it in my mouth.
However this is something I’d be willing to try with my phobia of beetles because you know what the other day I gave myself a little bit of exposure therapy and started looking at close up pictures of beetles and I couldn't believe it but I actually thought that one beetle was cute :O.
I still wouldn’t be able to hold one but I think that particular phobia could be helped with exposure therapy.
