A recent report suggested that 8.7% of the worldwide population will suffer from a specific phobia(s) during their lifetime. For some reason women are twice as likely as men to be affected by phobias and the average age at which phobias emerge is seven.
Are women seen as more likely to suffer from phobias because they are more forthcoming with their concerns and men tend to keep personal feelings to themselves? Do some men see phobias as a sign of weakness?
