Support groups are good for phobias

For many people it can be extremely difficult to explain to people how phobias make them feel and how they impact anxiety levels. As we have done with the forum, support groups are extremely useful for many people because they allow you to speak to like-minded people who have been there, done it and many have beaten their phobias. Very often it is the ability to see some kind of hope from somebody who understands your situation which can give you strength.

Do not underestimate the support of others who’ve been in the same situation!

Out of all of the techniques, speaking to someone who has been there, done it and experienced a similar situation is priceless. I think this forum will offer support to not only phobias and anxiety sufferers but also those living with sufferers. Who is there for those having to watch friends and family suffering every day?

Family, partners and friends of anxiety and phobia sufferers hardly get a mention but it must be extremely hard watching a loved one go through these traumas. Hopefully this forum will offer at least some support to those indirectly effected by these conditions.

I'm all for the support group system, however, be careful that it doesn't increase fears.

Reading somebody else's problems can instill negative thoughts.
