While certainly not for everybody, it is well-known that some people can overcome their phobias and worst fears using the “flooding” technique. This simply means repeatedly exposing yourself to phobias until you are finally able to control the situation. For example if somebody has a phobia of travelling on buses or trains then they would consider travelling on a bus or train for hours at a time. As the body and mind becomes more aware and more understanding of what were perceived stressful situations, and what did or did not bring them on in the past, slowly but surely the body will release less stress hormones thereby reducing anxiety and panic.
